Hunt Valley Music Ensembles

The Hunt Valley Music Ensembles mission is to provide an opportunity for adult amateur musicians to rehearse and perform challenging wind band repertoire while providing live music for the local community and beyond.

Ages

Our ensembles are typically adult majority, however high school students may join. Members under the age of 18 may be admitted with permission of the Board.

It is suggested that younger members shall have reached at least 10th grade although the director may choose to make exceptions in cases such as a child whose parent or private instructor plays in the band. Public school students are strongly encouraged to be active in their school band programs. If they are not, the school’s band director may be contacted to ensure that Hunt Valley Music Ensembles is not competing with the school music program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I show up to a rehearsal to play/join?

No. Due to some sections or groups having waiting lists, please inquire before attending a rehearsal.

How do I join one of your ensembles?

Please reach out via out website, www.huntvalleywindensemble.org to inquire. Some groups or instruments may have a waiting list.

What is the commitment? Do you take drop in musicians?

The musical success of the band is dependent upon weekly rehearsals with all members who will perform at the concert. Therefore, the ensembles shall not exist as a “drop-in” organization. All members are expected to consistently attend 70% of rehearsals within any concert season.

Can I schedule any of your groups to perform at my venue/event?

Yes! We love to perform, especially for our community! Please reach out to us regarding your needs and we can work out the details.

Do you take monetary donations?

We are grateful for donations that help support our operations. Donations are used to support music purchases and royalty fees, percussion equipment purchases and repairs, our directors, website expenses and other operational expenses. Donations are tax deductible as Cockeysville Recreation Council is a non-profit 501c3 organization.
