CYC
What is CYC?
CYC is a parent-run activity that benefits the students of Cockeysville Middle School (CMS). It is organized by CMS parents and volunteers in partnership with the Cockeysville Recreation Council (CRC).
CYC is a CRC-sponsored event. It is not affiliated with or sponsored by Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) or CMS.
Event Details
CYC is a fun and safe activity that typically takes place on Fridays from 7 to 9:30 PM at CMS. It gives students a chance to hang out with friends and make new ones.
- Admission: $10 per student (cash only)
- Concessions: Beverages, food, and snacks (cash only)
- Activities include:
- DJ and dancing
- Gym sports
- Ping pong
- Other games and activities
Student Registration
- Registration is now entirely online.
- Parents or guardians must complete the registration form for each student attending.
- Registration is only required once per school year for all events.
Parent/Guardian Volunteer REQUIREMENT
- Every student must have a parent/guardian volunteer once a year.
- Volunteering grants free entry for your child on that night.
- We require at least 20 volunteers for each event to avoid cancellation or postponement, so please sign up today!
Volunteer Registration
- All volunteers must complete a background check through Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Park (BCRP).
- When starting the background check process, choose "A-C Communities" to begin and then select "Cockeysville."
- It may take 1-2 weeks to complete the process of approval through to listing on the approved volunteer list.

Drop Off
- For a student’s first event, a guardian must accompany them inside to verify registration and payment.
- Only after that is drop-off is permitted.
Pick Up
- All students must be picked up inside the school cafeteria by a parent or guardian by 9:30 p.m. sharp!
- Students will not be allowed to leave alone or unescorted.
Guest Policy
- Middle school students from other schools may attend as guests only when accompanied by a current CMS student. All guests must complete the registration form. No elementary or high school students are permitted.
Code of Conduct
DRESS CODE
- Shoes must be worn (flip flops and sandals are acceptable)
- No pajamas or flannel pants
- Undergarments must be covered
- No clothing or accessories related to drugs, alcohol, profanity, or sexual content
- No exposure of stomach, back, or buttocks
- No chains or studded accessories of any kind
- Tank top straps must be at least three adult fingers wide
- No low-cut, tight, or short clothing
- Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length or longer
- No hats or hoods inside
- Costumes must not include face masks, weapons (real or fake), or offensive themes
- No oversized bags or backpacks allowed
- Small purses and fanny packs permitted
- Students are encouraged to bring clear bags
BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
- Students are expected to behave appropriately and respectfully. Inappropriate behavior includes: disrespect, cursing, fighting/hitting, kissing, hugging, inappropriate physical contact, unsafe dancing, running, horseplay, and shouting or yelling explicit language.
- Offenders will be removed from the event, isolated until pick up, and may lose future attendance privileges. Students are not allowed to leave the building without a parent or guardian. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from future events.
- There is a zero tolerance!
